The Heroes Workshop

After the character designs and the shadow puppets, I realised, I needed to find a way to gather stories now. Since we are looking at the prospect of The Heroes Project becoming a graphic narrative, I wanted to devise a method to gather stories. A method to collect stories from the people, their own voice. The process ought to be fun and creative at the same time.

Hence for this I decided to club two of my interests together to create a story collecting method. Borrowing from my experience in Shadow puppetry and forum theatre I decided to create a workshop model. A workshop which uses the framework of drama workshops and the art of shadow puppetry to create a space for story sharing. Not just an ordinary story circle but a space where they can include fantasy and imagination into their personal stories by connecting it with ancient Khoi-San mythology.

Started off with a few circle exercises

Columbian Hypnosis

Interacting with the shadows

Puppet making

Story telling
